Truvin's free tier, which covers camera scanning, manual VIN entry, specs, recalls, and estimated value, works without creating an account, giving an email address, or entering any personal information.
We store the VINs you scan or enter. If you unlock a full report, we also keep a record of that purchase so you're never charged twice for the same VIN. Unlocked reports are saved to your device's Garage so you can reopen them for free. To prevent abuse of the free lookup and paid unlock features, our servers briefly record the IP address of each request. That's used only to limit how many requests come from the same network in a given hour.
When you scan a VIN, the photo is processed entirely on your device to read the characters. It is never uploaded, stored, or seen by Truvin.
Purchases are handled entirely by the App Store. Truvin never receives or stores your card details.
Free vehicle data comes from NHTSA, a U.S. government agency. Paid title and accident data comes from VinAudit, an NMVTIS-approved reseller. To write the plain-English summary shown in a full report, we may send that report's own already-computed data (its title, accident, and odometer rows, plus its ownership timeline) to Anthropic, which powers Claude. Your personal information is never included in that request.
Truvin does not collect your name, location, contacts, or browsing activity, and it does not sell data to third parties.
Contact info@truvinapp.com with any privacy questions or requests to delete your data.
